Finlar Fine Foods Johannesburg – Libstar – Expands its TransLution™ Software System
Finlar Fine Foods (A division of Libstar) supplies world-standard food products to the food service and retail markets, specialising in meat and chicken products. Finlar’s business operations are centred around the requirements of its key customers, producing all the meat and chicken products for McDonalds South Africa and exporting beef to McDonalds in the UAE and Mauritius, as well as manufacturing value-added coated beef, chicken and vegetable products for County Fair and Woolworths.
Finlar Johannesburg has significantly extended their existing TransLution™ Software implementation to cover the complete business process, from receiving through production and dispatch.
This new expansion of TransLution™ includes a two-stage purchase order receiving function which is used to receive wet goods. First, a scanning function is used to receive the stock and to create and print pallet labels, after which an approval grid is accessed by a supervisor, using a PC or tablet, to check and approve the receipt and post to SYSPRO to create a Goods Received Note.
Goods are then delivered on pallets, with TransLution™ providing various functions for these pallets such unboxing, thawing, and using goods-in-transit functions to move pallets between warehouses. TransLution™ has even been implemented with a tolerance percentage on the transit functions so that small changes in mass due to moisture loss do not cause any transfers to fail. Along with these pallet functions, TransLution™ also provides a scanner-based stock take process.
In production, TransLution™ covers specific issues – to issue raw materials to a job – as well as negative issues to remove unused materials from the job. At the end of each production line, pallets of finished goods are built, and a pre-printed label is placed on the pallet. The user can then scan to activate the pallet label and post a job receipt with a kit issue to SYSPRO.
Finally, TransLution™ is used to create and print pick slips. After pallets are scanned and picked, SYSPRO dispatch notes are updated to dispatch the picked items.
