M-Tec Industrial chooses TransLution™ for raw materials tracking and cable theft prevention
M-Tec Industrial (Pty) Ltd is a multi-disciplinary consulting engineering company, with expertise in the field of energy systems, both on the supply-side and the demand-side. M-Tech specialises in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), integrated system analyses and optimization applied to the design, construction and commissioning of energy systems.
M-Tec has selected TransLution™ for a number of projects on their site in Vereeniging, including
tracking of Raw Materials and Finished goods and, most excitingly, assisting in cable theft prevention activities.
Across the length of each cable M-Tec inserts barcoded tape which contains multiple barcodes. The barcode consists of a number that ends sequentially. At the QC checking point, users scan the barcodes at the top and bottom ends of the cable. The TransLution™ system is then able to use this data to calculate all the numbers in between.
While this does not prevent theft, if even a fragment of stolen cable is recovered the system can determine the SYSPRO job that the cable was manufactured against and in that way determine the client it was sent to. This allows the security measures at the appropriate clients to be evaluated.
M-Tech’s major competitive advantage lies in the fields of energy systems, both on the supply-side and on the demand-side. Although M-Tech’s work covers a wide spectrum of engineering disciplines including project management, systems engineering, materials selection for design and control system design, its major competitive advantage lies in the fields of energy systems, both on the supply-side and on the demand-side. In this regard M-Tech specializes in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, integrated system simulation and optimization applied to the design, construction and commissioning of energy systems.
On the supply-side M-Tech provides owner’s engineering services to Eskom for its coal and gas-fired power stations as well as to Necsa on projects related to the nuclear energy industry.
M-Tech was also extensively involved with the development of the PBMR High Temperature Reactor power plant project until 2009.
On the demand-side M-Tech provides a range of energy efficiency and demand-side management products and services to a diverse client base including the large mining houses and hotel and hospital groups.
AfriSoft Africa (Pty) Ltd was founded in 1998 to serve the specialised needs of agribusiness, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution companies. TransLution™ software was developed by AfriSoft for manufacturing and warehouse management. The TransLution™ product is particularly focussed on robust integration to Syspro for a wide range of transactions.
